How to Install WordPress on Localhost?

Today I am going to share a tutorial about the WordPress install on localhost. This is a small step-by-step tutorial for installing WordPress on your local host and also for a live server. You can easily install wordpress with the help of this tutorial.

My aim behind? sharing this tutorial to provide some guidelines? For beginners, those who are new in wordpress and want to start working on wordpress.

What is a wordpress ?

  • WordPress is a most popular CMS platform (Content Management System).
  • WordPress is a widely used CMS for blogging.
  • It is very easy to use and has a user-friendly back end environment.
  • You can use wordpress even if you do not have technical knowledge.

Installing WordPress is very easy. Let’s have a quick overview look at below if you have some technical background. You can install wordpress on localhost without going through the details section of the tutorial.

Quick Installation Summary

  1. First of all Install a local server (Mac: MAMP, PC:XAMPP or WAMP). If you already have installed it then skip this step.
  2. Now create a fresh database.
  3. Now download WordPress from here? and extract the files to a new folder under the htdocs or WWW folder.
  4. Run the wordpress installer and follow the instructions to install WordPress.
  5. That’s it !!!

Let’s Begin Step by Step guide in Details :

Step 1 : Install a Local Server

You can skip this step if you have already installed a local server on your machine.

First of all you need to install a localhost server on your local Machine/Computer Blow is the list of Local servers…

1 WAMP (Window Apache Mysql and PHP)

2. XAMPP (X for cross platform Linus and Window …Apache Mysql PHP and Perl)

3 LAMP (Linux Apache Mysql PHP)

4. MAMP (Mac Apache Mysql and PHP)

If you are using a Windows operating System then You can install it? WAMP or XAMPP and if you are using Linux than you can use XAMPP or LAMP and for Mac Operating System You need to install MAMP

Step 2 : Create a Database

Now just go to the localhost/phpmyadmin environment? and create a fresh database

You will see the create database option. So simply fill the database name in the field and click on the “Create” button. It will create a fresh database for you and it is ready to set up WordPress. See the below image

Step 3 : Download WordPress

Now you need to download a fresh copy of wordpress. Go to the official website and download the new version of WordPress.

Go to the htdocs folder (where you installed the XAMPP), If you are using WAMP then it will be ‘www’.  Soextract the folder to a new folder (eg. myblog).

Step 4 :Let’s Run installer

Now let’s run the wordpress Installer in order to install wordpress on localhost because we are all set to install wordpress now to do so? Just open your web browser such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Chrome or any things you wish and open the URL given below


Please change the folder name as per your folder name.

When you open the URL above you will be asked for some details that are required to install wordpress. Like the image below.

Just you need to enter the details as being asked and click on the ‘Next’ button. It’s a very simple process.

Finally click Install WordPress. and When you done all the steps you will be asked for the Go to admin (back end of the wordpress) or view site (front end of the wordpress)

Now You can login to your website’s admin panel at ‘localhost/myblog/wp-admin’ to customize its looks and settings and you can install the theme and plugin from the Admin Panel.

You can also check your changes by going through the front end of the wordpress site You can access front end of your site by going through the URL ‘localhost/myblog
